We have a great deal to be thankful for this Thanksgiving at Belaire (Ken & Gloria Hansen) and Dante (Elizabeth & Ben Brinkley).  Our beautiful pointed blue girl - Wynstone's Belle Amie whelpled a litter yesterday sired by my boy Fayr Isle Double Justice.  Amie is such a lady that she waited until we had finished Thanksgiving dinner to drop her temp and start early signs of labor.  After a long night of close watching, she started heavy labor at 5 am and popped the first puppy at 6 am.  The last pup was born at noon - six hours start to finish <g>  She did a wonderful job and is a fantastic momma so far.  I had been hoping that she would hold out untilsince it is my husband, Ben's birthday <lol> Makes it very easy to remember the birth date for this litter although I am not sure he appreciated a birthday present of seven very noisy puppies in the bedroom <VBEG>.  I whispered in Amie's ear to think blue girls and I guess she was listening.  She had one black girl (possibly bi-black, we are still waiting to confirm but she looks totally black) two flashy blue boys (one of whom might be biblue)four blue merle girls for a grand total of SEVEN healthy squirming babies.  They range in weight from 7.1 ounces to 9.2 ounces and are very uniform.  The most wonderful thing about this event is that Amie's litters before she came to live with us consisted of two singleton littersc-section and a twosome litter, so Gloria and I are thanking our lucky stars that we have so many beautiful babies from our beautiful friend.  Photos are up on my website and Gloria's at http://www.belairemanor.com/home/  We have been truly blessed this Thanksgiving.  I know Amie is relieved.  She was beginning to resemble a walking beach ball.  <LOL>Ask me if I feel the same way at Christmas when I have seven four week olds trying to get into everything

Nancy Grebur tells us that...On August 5, 2006 at the Canfield, Ohio Obedience Trial my Sheltie, Ranger finished his 3rd Novice A leg to obtain his CD Title. He placed 2nd. I was EXTREMELY happy for the both of us. I have been so nervous doing this. WOW! It's over now. My dearest friend and mentor -Lynne King has helped us tremendously with her support. She has helped me with my confidence. Thanks-Lynne!! Also, thanks to other members of WCOTC and TRSSCGP for their support. My cheering section- Aunt Betts, Uncle Walter, Pam Smith, Karen Schroeder & Nancy Glabicki. I love you all!

Rusty Cromer and Debbie Hull tell us that...at the ASSA National Specialty in VA Beach, Ch. Macdega Ben Lomand made two cuts in the Best of Breed competition. Bennie who completed his championship last year at the age of 9 months was bred by Rusty & Debbie. He was sired by BIS/BISS Am/Jpn Ch. Popstar SS of Northern Farm out of Macdega Provence (Cache’). Bennie is owned by Tom & Nioma Coen.

And...Debbie tells us that another of her boys – Ch. Hullston’s Sirius Black (Ch. Kell Renaissance x Ch. Hullston’s Iridescence) better know as Sir Hullston, HF also made two cuts. Out of 108 male specials both Bennie and Sir made it to the top 20.  We’re definitely proud of them.

News from Ken and Gloria Hansen...On May 28th Am/Can. CH Tar-Ri Kylenes Country Pride Am/Can. CD, RAE, AX, AXP, AXJ, OJP, NAC-V, OJC, CGC,TDI, AG.N, TG-N, TN-N,PT, HCT, JHD, VCX+CH, "JJ"the Golden Triangle Agility Trial, finished his Excellent Standard Preferred title, "AXP" .....with a Third Place finish.12 years old, Gloria and Ken decided that win or loose, this would be JJ's last Agility trial.  Ken wanted so badly for JJ to go out finishing this last title and he DID!!!It has been a super run for Ken and JJ over these years, one that Ken will never forget.

Rita & Wayne Slepcevich are thrilled to report that...At the GTOTC Agility Trials in Cheswick       Memorial Day weekend, U-AGI Homespun Sweet Home Chicago CD RN AX MXJ NAC NJC OGC    RS-N JS-N GS-O CGC TDI "Hannah", earned the 11th leg of her Master Excellent Jumper, and the 1st leg of her Master Agility Excellent, plus 11 more MACH points.

AND...the following weekend at the CCOC Trials in Cheswick, Hannah earned her 12th & 13th MXJ legs, her second MX leg, her first “Double Q” and 19 more MACH points.  Hannah had really been getting really tired of reading how Cammi, Dawson & Ozzy went to the fast food restaurants to get their rewards for a good show, and she decided that her first “Double Q” deserved a big time reward.  Nothing from a restaurant chain would do.  She decided she wanted gourmet ice cream.  So we went to Kip’s (named after the owners dog) and got two homemade vanilla puppy cups with a milk bone on top.  She was nice enough to get one for Hayley too.  I think Hayley may be changing her mind about     Hannah being a show off, and may start encouraging her to compete even more if she’s going to get to share in the rewards.   As everyone knows...her motto is “What’s in it for me...Hayley”.

Lynn & Tom Uram tell us that... On June 4th, Chet earnedexcellent jumpers preferred leg at the Clarion Canine Obedience Club's agility trial in Cheswick, PA. Jackie Herbein is thrilled to report that... MACH T'Angel's Allegro Molto UDX, AXP, MJP [Allegro] earned his Utility Dog Excellent [UDX] title at the WCOTC Obedience Trial on Saturday June 10.  After missing it by a tail's hair at the Sheltie National (some of you have heard the story), he turned in a QUIET(!) and solid performance. A special thank-you to everyone who supported us along the way through every single title.  The UDX bar awarded by WCOTC is a great touch and rightfully takes its place beside Allegro and Bill's MACH bar.

Jackie Herbein tells us that...Rondo Herbein (Patented Classical Form UD, MX, MXJ, MXP, MJP) would like to say that he was miffed with all the hoopla made over his brother Allegro's UDX title because he happily barked at Jackie through his Rally Novice title and the first leg of his Rally Advanced title at the WCOTC Rally Trials on June 09 and 10.

Marlana Tice is thrilled to report that...Marko and I had a Fabulous Weekend at the 5 day show held at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle.Marko was entered 4 out of the 5 days. (We took a break Saturday to practice Agility).  Marko only needed 2 points to finish his Breed Championship:  Thursday:Marko got Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex. Entries were at 2 points; however it broke to only 1 point. So he was now 1 point away from that CH title.  Friday:HE DID IT.Marko took Winners Dog for 2 points and finished his breed championship. All of Marko's points were earned with his Owner......Me, as his Handler !!  Sunday:Marko moved up into the Best of Breed Competition. And I was so very proud that he took BEST OF BREED over three other Specials that were entered. He made the cut in the group ring but was not awarded a placement there.        Monday:He had a repeat performance on Memorial Day and took BEST OF BREED over one        Special. No cut was made in the group ring and Marko was not one of the 4 dogs that the judge chose.  Marko is now CH Damingo Marksman's Hi Speed Bullet, OAJ, NA and was bred by and is co-owned by Joanna Fortson.  Thanks for listening to my brag.......I will be seeing my agility friends a lot more in the near future !!

BRAGS FROM THE MAY 2006 NEWSLETTER

Marlana Tice tells us that...At the Sheltie National in Virginia Beach, Emprise Just Three Wishes ("Justi") made her agility debut in the 12" Novice B JWW Class.  Justi amazed me by running a perfect course in 29.97 seconds for FIRST PLACE.  Course time was set at 47 seconds.  (Not bad for a 13 1/2 Inch "Princess Daughter").  Justi was bred and is co-owned by Diane Troese.

Julie Iverson tells us that...Homespun had a great time at the National.  It started out on Sunday with Lynmarr Send in the Clown AX OAP AXJ OJP "Emmett" getting a first place in excellent jumpers preferred.  Not only did he get a blue rosette but he also received a beautiful ASSA silver bowl and completed his title.  Now we'll be working on our masters title.  Weaver qualified in both his runs and Kellie qualified in her jumpers run.  Weaver went on to make a cut in the best of breed competition on Saturday.  It was a very fun but tiring week.

Walter Piroth reports that..."At the Sheltie Nationals on Sunday April 23 in Excellent Jumpers, oZZy and I had the run of our lives. This was one of those times when everything was effortless. We found ourselves in the zone. The Course, oZZy and I were one. I don't believe I gave oZZy more then a few commands and very little direction. He just knew. It was an awesome experience. It really doesn't    matter but we knocked a bar and NQ'd. In our Excellent Standard run we qualified but in no way did it compare to what happened in Jumpers. We celebrated the day with another trip to the beach."

Joanna Fortson is thrilled to inform us that...At the 2006 ASSA National in Virginia, Ch Damingo Colt Forty Five....... "Pistol", took 4th place in the 9-12 veterans class.   He was shown by Greg Speeks, who did a beautiful job.   Diane Troese did most of the grooming on him as I was way too nervous.  I am very proud of him and of his placement and want to thank all that made it possible, and having club friends there to share it all with made it even better.....

Joann Avery tells us that... My elderly gentleman, Brett; CH. Brownlee Hi Caliber ROM, went to the National at VA Beach...he had a great time, and thought that he was three years old...having had surgery for cancer twice in the last four months, it was quite a triumph.  He ended up placing second in the 12 and up class.  He appreciated the applause, support and love he received...the superb handling by Julie Desy...and the Maury Povich make over by Mary and the whole Islemist team.  And he couldn’t take the smile off his face, for the grand showing of his son, Pistol “CH Damingo Colt Forty Five”, fourth in the large and hotly contested 9-12 yrs class.

Bill Herbein tells us that... At the April 23rd American Shetland Sheepdog Association Nationals in Virginia Beach, Rondo, handled by Bill Herbein, brought home a 1st place silver bowl in Excellent B Standard Preferred winning over his 'brother' Allegro, who NQ'd due to excessive speed, i.e. running faster than Bill.  Trio performed admirably turning in great times and gaining his 15th Excellent B Double Q.

Anne Trosky is proud to report that Levi (now officially... Saranac Bedazzled N BluJeans NAJ, CGC) earned his first Double Q at the A.S.S.A. Nationals at VA Beach on April 23, 2006.  Levi not only acquired his first Novice Standard leg with a third place finish, but also completed his Novice Agility Jumpers title with a second place finish. Needless to say Levi's first trip to the beach was fun and rewarding!  After all of that hard work at the Agility trial he especially loved playing in the waves with his crazy buddy Tony and  the more reserved Trio, Rondo and Allegro.  Thanks to all of those that helped and the "great cheering section from the East".

AND...not to be outdone, Shadow (Moonshadow of Summerridge, CDX, NAJP, CGC) finished his Novice Agility Jumpers Preferred title at WCOTC's Agility Trail on May 13, 2006.  Now the race is on to see who gets his Standard title first!!

Elaine Mayowski tells us that...Kyrie (U-AG1 Saranac Better In Black MX, MXJ, CD, CGC, TDI, CL1-F, CL1-R, CL1-H, TN-N, WV-N, NJC) qualified on March 31 in Excellent Standard at the Blue Ridge Dog Training Club.  Then on April 2 she qualified in Excellent Standard and Excellent Jumpers giving her her 13th Double Q and 45 more Mach points.  Way to go my "Little Bear" I am so proud of you.  Woo Hoo !

AND...Kyrie qualified on April 22  & 23 in Excellent Jumpers at the Parkersburg Obedience Training Club agility trial with both 2nd places and 33 more Mach points.  Way to go my "Little Bear."  Love Ya ! AND...Kyrie (U-AG1 Saranac Better In Black MX, MXJ, CD, CGC, TDI, CL1-F, CL1-R, CL1-H, TN-N, WV-N, NJC)  qualified on April 29 in Excellent Standard at the Cleveland All Breed agility trial with a 3rd place and 14 more Mach points.  Way to go my "Little Bear."  Love Ya !

Jackie Herbein tells us that… At the BCOTC Rally Trials in Saxonburg on April 29-30, Jackie and Rondo entered their first Novice B Rally Trial.  On his first time out, Rondo earned a perfect 100 score and 1st place.  On day two, Rondo tried to earn a building cleaning credit [wrong building] by pulling the leash out of Jackie's hand to investigate a possible treat.  This caused Rondo to lose a point and also a few seconds of time and the team was edged out of 1st place by tenths of seconds and earned a 2nd place finish.  Rally seems to be Rondo's forte now that he doesn't have to do the stinkin' UD exercises anymore.

Karen Rose Cercone and Sheltie Brynn had a blast running USDAA agility at the Splash and Dash trial in Cheswick PA.  Brynn qualified in six of her nine runs, picking up two P2 Snooker legs and one P2 Gambler leg to finish her Performance Dog II title.  And running for the first time on those scary hard Master's-level courses against MACH and ADCH dogs, Brynn not only qualified twice (once in P3   Standard, once in P3 Jumpers) but also took 3rd place, only fractions of a second behind World Team members Jennifer Crank and Guess!  Woo-hoo!

It was our first leg in the Master Agility Excellent B Class (MX). oZZy didn't want his traditional victory treat at Wendy's he was content to just make a quick visit to the Rest Area on I79".

The human half of Team Brynn (who was getting awfully tired of carrying the Sheltie half off the course for breaking her start line stay) is delighted to report that Brynn brought her A-game to the USDAA trial in Mentor Ohio this past weekend.  Running in the Performance Two classes against some real  competition at this very big trial, Brynn and handler Karen Rose Cercone qualified on four out of seven runs and earned two 1sts and three 2nd placements.  One of Brynn's clean runs came in the Leap-n-Chase tournament class, where she ran a masters-level steeplechase course in only 38        seconds.  Brynn also completed her PII Standard and PII Jumpers titles over the weekend, which means she now moves up to run those scary-hard USDAA masters courses.  Hmmm ... on second thought, maybe we should have broken a few more start line stays!

Rita & Wayne Slepcevich are thrilled to report that...U-AGI Homespun Sweet Home Chicago CD, OA, MXJ, NAC, NJC, OGC, RS-N, JS-N, GS-O, CGC, TDI "Hannah", finished her Agility Excellent with a 3rd place, at the Beaver County Kennel Club agility trial on March 26th.  (Picture on Right)

Julie Iverson tells us that...Homespun had another good weekend at the Beaver County Kennel Club agility trial 3/25 and 3/26.  Emmett earned his final open standard preferred leg for his title with a first place.  His new name is Lynmarr Send in the Clown AX AXJ OAP OJP CGC.  He also earned a leg on the excellent jumpers preferred course with another first place.  Weaver (CH Homespun Dream Weaver NAJ) also ran well earning a third place in the Standard Novice class and a forth place in the Open Jumpers class.

Bill Herbein reports that...at the Beaver County Kennel Club agility trials at the Convention Center, the musical dogs just barely qualified over 50% of the time [5 out of 8] in their first 2006 agility outing. Running in the Preferred classes, MACh T'Angel's Allegro Molto UD, AXP, AJP earned another MJP leg with a 1st place finish edging 'brother' Rondo on Saturday.  Patented Classical Form UD, MX, MXJ, MXP, AJP [Rondo] earned two additional MJP legs with a 2nd place on Saturday and a 1st place on Sunday.  Meanwhile 'brother' Homespun Classical Style MX, MXJ [Trio], competing in the regular 16" height classes, earned his 13th Excellent B Double Q on Sunday.

AND...Charm, Journey's daughter, qualified for her first Excellent B Jumpers leg and a first place.  Charm also had her picture in the Post-Gazette going over a jump the day she won first place.  What a great day!

Marlana Tice tells us that...At the Beaver Kennel Club Agility Trial at the Convention Center, Damingo Marksman's Hi Speed Bullet, OAJ, NA  ("MARKO") competed in both Agility and Conformation.  After a long break from Agility Trials, due to "Control Issues", on Saturday, Marko earned his first leg in Excellent A JWW for a 2nd place finish (2 seconds slower than the border collie in the 16" height group..... where did that little border collie come from ?)  Course time was 41 seconds and Marko completed it in 33 seconds.  On Sunday, Marko earned that long awaited first leg in Open Standard with a 2nd place finish.  Time wise, he was the fastest; but, Marko had a refusal at the very first jump. (Marko thinks that he can get a faster start if he "goes around or under" that first jump.)  Marko is very Creative on the Agility Course.

Gloria and Ken Hansen tells us that...at the WPKA KC show on Sunday, our "JJ" at 12 yrs young…finished his Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) title with my hubby Ken doing all the work.  It was a very nice weekend for JJ's kids, they titled in the performance rings and pointed in the breed ring.  We are so proud of JJ's kids, they just excel in everything they do!

Helen Scherer tells us that...Although I have not bragged before about Bill, I think this one deserves to be shared.  Edlin Charming Billy won a 5 pt. major at Central Ohio SSA on February 26, 2006 under Guy Jeavons.  Bill is co-owned with Cheryl Weeden and lovingly shown by our mutual friend Shawn DeLion.  Cheryl and her son Kevin deserve much credit for working wonders with him.  This leaves his championship just one point away.

Gloria Hansen tells us that….Some good news from the WPKA KC show in March, we showed for the very first time our sable boy, "Belaire's What You Leave Behind..Breckon" he is sired by our beautiful heart dog, Am/Can.CH Tar-Ri Kylenes Country Pride Am/Can. CD, RAE, AX, OAP, AXJ, OJP, NAC-V, OJC, CGC, TDI, AG.N, TG-N, TN-N, PT, HCT, JHD, VCX, "JJ" out of Sandylwood Belaire Take A Bow.  In his debut, under judge Keke Kahn, he took a Major Reserve and we were so thrilled.  The Convention Center can be a very noisy and hectic place, but nothing bothered him.. On Sunday under judge Anne Rogers Clark, Breckon took WD,BW and BOS for a 3pt major.  He was handled by Cadie Pruss (Acadia Shelties).

Carol DeMoss & Linda Evans tell us that...Willow, Merry Lea' Willow in the Wind, finished her championship by going WB and BOW at the Western Pennsylvania Kennel Association show at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Anne Trosky is happy to report… that Levi (Saranac Bedazzled N Blu Jeans), is off and running (and jumping) with his Agility career. At the Beaver County Kennel Club Agility Trials held at the Pgh. Convention Center on 3/25 & 3/26, 2006, Levi earned his 1st Jumpers leg with a 4th place finish and his 2nd Jumpers leg with a 2nd place finish and a perfect score. Now, if only we could resolve our "Teeter issues" in the Standard ring. Levi is tied with his brother Shadow now that they both have 2 Jumpers legs...it's a race to see who will get that title first. Thanks to Bill Herbein for all of his help thus far.

Elaine Mayowski tells us that… Kyrie (U-AG1 Saranac Better In Black MX, MXJ, CD, CGC, TDI, CL1-F, CL1-R, CL1-H, TN-N, WV-N, NJC) Qualify in Jumpers on Saturday March 25 at the Beaver show in Pittsburgh with a 2nd place win and 15 more Mach points. Lindsay and Maureen Spitznogle of Anistar Shetland Sheepdogs tells us that… Anistar Ever Seen the Rain, "Noah" was Winner's Dog/Best Opposite Sex from the Bred By class at the WPKA show on Saturday March 25 for a three point major. Noah is from the first litter bred here at Anistar, out of our Jade Mist Anistar Andante "Annie" by Trevanne's Pelletier "David".

Noah has only been out a handful of weekends and, in addition to this Major, has a single point and a Reserve - we are very excited about him !

Elaine Mayowski tells us that... Kyrie (U-AG1 Saranac Better In Black CD,MX, MXJ, CGC, TDI, CL1-F, CL1-R, CL1-H, TN-N, WV-N, NJC) made her debut in the Open Obedience ring in Cleveland on March 11 & 12.   I am very proud to announce that she qaulified in both trials to give her 2 legs towards her CDX.    The first day with a nice score of 189 1/2 and the second day was going just as nice when she dropped the dumbell out of her mouth when she came over the high jump.  But being the smart little dog she is she ran and got it and brought it back to me.  The judge was very impressed but took off 10 points for that.  So instead of a 192 we ended up with a 182 and a 4th place win.  Way to go my "Little Bear" I am so proud of you and I Love you so much.

Elaine Mayowski and Chet (A/C Ch Kelbren Blue Flame, CD, RN, NAJ, OJP) certainly started off 2006 on a high note for us! At the Erie Kennel Club's Agility Trial on January 7th, Chet completed his OJP title with a first place finish. The next day, we moved Chet up to the excellent jumpers preferred class, and he dazzled and delighted us again by earning his first AJP leg with another first place finish. Elaine is always telling me to "dream big," and she's certainly made a believer out of me! In the near future, we're going to start pursuing a herding title for Chet in the hopes that he'll be our first sheltie to earn a VCX...Lynn & Tom Uram.

Elaine Mayowski tells us that...Kyrie (U-AG1 Saranac Better In Black MX, MXJ, CD, CGC, TDI, CL1-F, CL1-R, CL1-H, TN-N, WV-N, NJC) starts her year off Fantastic ! At the Erie Kennel Club Show on Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 she Double Q'd both days with all 2nd place wins. She picked up 79 more Mach points and 2 more Doubles. Walter Piroth tells us that...It is my honor to inform everyone that my teammate, oZZy is now oZZy TDI, CD, CGC, AXJ and AX (Agility Excellent). This long sought after third leg occurred at Countrywide Agility on Sunday January 8, 2006. OZZy had a perfect run, we placed second, and I messed up just once but because he’s a lot more agile than I am he was able to avoid me running over him. He's getting good at getting out of the way. So now we hope to get our Masters Titles before we’re both to old to remember why we’re trialing. A special thanks to her honor Judge Kim Reeher for her wonderful course.
